Hyper-V Backup and Restoration
With an intuitive GUI and wizards to create backups and perform restores, BackupAssist makes Hyper-V easy.
Backups that meet your Hyper-V requirements
BackupAssist includes a selection of backup types including File Protection (replication) File Archiving (compression) and System Protection (imaging). These provide flexibility and a selection of backup destinations and schedules to choose from. Whether you want to use File Archiving to back up to a tape or DVD, or File Protection to back up your Hyper-V environment to an Rsync cloud or RDX drive, there is a backup solution for you.
The most powerful of the backup type available is System Protection. This technology can be used in a full host recovery and it can also be used to perform a granular restore of data with a Hyper-V guest (virtual machine). And like the other backup types, it supports a rich selection of destinations including external HDDs, RDX drives, and network locations such as NAS devices and iSCSI targets.
Flexible restore options for Hyper-V hosts and guests
Getting the balance between your backup and restore requirements is not always easy if you have many Hyper-V host machines with lots of guests (virtual machines). BackupAssist's System Protection cuts through these conflicting demands with backup jobs that can back up multiple Hyper-V guests and the host machine they reside on, in a single backup.
System Protection can be used to:
- Perform a granular restore of data from within any of the guests in the backup, using the Hyper-V Granular Restore tool. Other products often require a separate backup of each guest to do this.
- Restore the entire guest or files from within the host machine using the same backup, from the BackupAssist Restore Console.
